Working with Young People

We engage directly with young people by providing a safe space for them to express themselves in an environment of acceptance and understanding.

Art Projects

We like to use a range of different mediums to express the subject of mixed-race identity. We are always looking for innovative ways to collaborate with community and statutory organisations to create bespoke art & media projects.

Facilitator Training

Developing young people to become peer mentors and led youth workshops around mixed-race issues.

Mix-d: Identity Conference

This is a conference for students from years 9 and 10 to get together in the same space, talk about their lived experience and an opportunity to inform policy makers on future strategies. The conference creates a platform for young people from mix-d backgrounds to have a voice and be heard. They can explore issues and agendas related to the group, make recommendations to schools, local authority services and government on mix-d issues.

In summary, it bring together a group of mix-d students in one place where they can share experiences (positive and negative) and ideas in a positive but purposeful atmosphere.

Mix-d: National Conference

We take around 100 students from across different parts of the country. Essentially this is our Mix-d: Identity Conference but on a much larger scale, exploring future policy suggestions for people of mixed-race backgrounds. Students make a positive contribution to the national mixed-race debate, talk about the ‘stuff’ they do not often get the opportunity to say. Inform policy makers on the use of appropriate terminology and challenge their absence from local and national policy.

Mix-d: Terms

This is a school programme which works with a number of students to explore positive and negative perceptions of mix-d identity and create a safe space to talk honestly about the subject. Students develop a terminology chart to track the origin current terms used to describe people from mix-d backgrounds. They also create a series of role models reflecting people from mix-d backgrounds.

Radio Package

We are able to work with a number of different organisations to get students in a creative place recording and producing their own radio documentary on the subject of mixed-race.

School Workshops

We complement existing curriculum requirements working with students to develop resources and mini-projects around mixed-race identity within their schools.

Youth Conference

A one day event for young people from mixed-race backgrounds to come together, talk about their shared experiences and inform policy makers on future changes.

Youth Workshops

We work with young people in out-of-school settings to enable them to discuss issues related to the subject of mixed-race and interact constructively with their identities.

Bespoke services

If you are looking to engage more closely with the mixed-race subject but unsure how, we have a range of bespoke packages to suit your needs. Check out our work in Barnet where we engaged with a number of different audiences and activities.
