UK Censuses

The England and Wales 2011 Census form used the same 4 categories as that for 2001 but under the new heading of ‘Mixed/multiple ethnic groups’, the census agency’s research revealing that some disliked the term ‘mixed’ (preferring ‘multiple’). Scotland and Northern Ireland have again used a single write-in mixed category. We do not yet have the results of the 2011 Census but it is predicted that the UK ‘Mixed’ population will comfortably exceed one million persons. (76 words)
