England and Wales population estimates

The most recent experimental population estimates by ethnic group (for mid-2009) indicate a ‘Mixed’ group of 986,600 persons, 1.8% of the total population of England and Wales, comprising 310,600 ‘White and Black Caribbeans’, 131,800 ‘White and Black Africans’, 301,600 ‘White and Asians’, and 242,600 ‘Other Mixed’. Compared with mid-2001, the ‘Mixed’ group grew by an annual average of 5.9%: only the ‘Black African’, ‘Chinese’, and ‘Any other’ ethnic groups grew more quickly.
