Mix-d: Nottingham. Leading the way

Nottingham Bluecoat School students project.

I would like to send a big, huge, large congratulations to the Mix-d: Nottingham team.

In 2008 students from The Nottingham Bluecoat School, along with 100 young people from across the country took part in the first national conference about mixed-race identity.

Since attending our conference The Bluecoat students have set up their own Mix-d: nottingham group and met once a week to pave the way in raising awareness of the mixed-race debate.

I had the pleasure of catching up with them recently and was massively impressed at all they have achieved. Not only had they developed a training booklet for staff and students, they had created a fantastic wall display which proudly exhibits information, pictures and poems about mixed-race identity.

And that is not all, they are currently planning a whole school assembly for Black History month 2009

I am really proud of you Mix-d: nottingham. Brad.
