Mix-d: A platform for mixed-race conversations

I made 50 new friends

Just returned from our conference day in Walsall. We invited 50 students and I made 50 new friends.

What an amazing time.

Our new facilitators, some of whom were delegates last year showed the true content of their character by over coming their nerves and delivering 5 fantastic workshops.

The 50 delegates who were new to the idea of a conference dedicated to the mixed-race subject were both engaged and engaging.

The team worked beautifully together and ensured that everything happened as it should.

I am convinced if you give people what they want, they will ask for more. Many of the students we met today asked to return next year and become new champions. Our new facilitators are ready to move the discussion forward in their schools and put their finger print on the future.

There is no better feeling than meeting a new group of young people who arrive at a
Mix-d: conference looking slightly wary and nervous then to see them leave many hours later walking tall and asking for more.

I hope the students who pass through our project get as much out of the process as I do in creating a space for them, to talk about the things they do not often get an opportunity to talk about.
